Good Shepherds

Today: Good Shepherd Sunday

Who are Good Shepherds today?

Pope Francis who said “NATO MAY HAVE PROVOKED Russia’ ire “by barking at Russia’s door.”

His opinion which MIGHT GIVE HIM Negotiating room if he goes to Moscow as he wishes to do.

so who are other Good Shepherds? So many: critical care nurses, Coast Guard crews, cops who really live up to their motto: “to protect and serve.” Doctors Without Borders, What would we do without them?

Today we lift up in grateful prayer all our protectors.

Good shepherds of the flock, we thank you.

I am going fishing!

The remarkable proclamation of Peter....going back to work. But there would be other work that would take him all the way to Rome.

May 1 is a BIG day in Russia and it is the beginning of Mary’s Month. She is revered in Russia despite the ravages of Communism and now Putin.

so we turn to her in our great for peace in Ukraine. Once I was chaplain on a Russian ship. One evening I encountered two Russian shipmates and asked “Is there any religion left in Russia?

one said “No!”

Then the other said, “But we still treasure our icons.”

There is still faith in Russia. May it be reawakened during Mary’s month!

The Double Standard The story of the woman taken in adultery shows the old “double standard” at work. Where is the man? Jesus approach to women is always understanding And compassionate to their plight. Today in Ukraine women are in a double bind. They are refugees with children needing their Protection. Our recent St. Patrick celebration enabled me to send $500 To SAVE THE CHILDREN. THIS is a worthy charity with 80 percent of It’s collections going in direct aid. May God deliver Ukraine from its nightmare. May Easter see its resurrection from its tomb.
