Today, Jesus tells us it is not our Selfies pictures, nor the make upwe put on, or our sun tans that counr. It is what is inthe heart that counts.

We are npw at the edge of Fall.

In Iowa, the corn is as high as an elephant's eye and it rustles in the humid wind.

So a relection on Ordinary Time:

Bless our land from sea to sea

Bles the fields giving life to me.

bless the earth beneath my feet.

bless the food we have to eat.

And yet Creator God,

This is not ORDINARY time.

This is extraordinary time,

where fertile earth lies supine

forests are despoiled,

deserts cursed by drouth,

ice bergs melted by global warming

making chaos out of paradise.

What I do for the earth

I do for the children

Let the earth be for them,

not desert,

but precious gem.
