CELTIC SPIRITUALITY

UNDERLIES POPE fRANCIS ENCYLICAL ON CARE FOR THE EARTH.

The ancient Celts reverenced the earth. The Druids had holy wells which they believed were the openings to the womb of Mother Earth.

Saint Patrick respected their traditions and baptized at these holy wells. Pilgrims still visit them today.

Sint Patrick also plucked a shmrock and taught them about the Trinity.

The Celts reverenced the earth as "the dear old sod."

Read and see how Pope Francis echos Celtic Spirituality:

"...In the words of this beautiful Canticle, Saint Francis reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and like a beautuful mother who opens her arms to embrace us."Praise to you my Lord through our Sister Mother Earth who sustains and governs us and produces  various fruits with colored flowers and herbs."

Have a blessed and Green St. Patrick's Day!
