Second Sunday of Easter - Sunday of Divine Mercy

alt

Pictured are Lucy Howell, Father Fitz, and Sean Carroll, Director of Kino Border Initiative.

They are celebrating the success of the fundraiser which raised $160 thousand
to provide merciful shelter for penniless, bedraggled migrants dumped over the border by ICE.
SOME of them are parents separated from their families in USA.

Today's Reading:

"God in his great mercy has given us a new reason to a living hope
through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

The expelled refugees were only seeking a better life for their families.
Their plight: hopeless except for their Easter Faith.

Instead of mercy they only met disdain, rejection, and expulsion.

They ARE "the LEAST OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS,
so that what we do to them we do to CHRIST!

And so we pray:

Give us all a new Resurrection hope.
And give us as well an infusion of mercy,
Not just mercy on our lips,
But mercy in our hearts,
And in our deeds.
Help us to build merciful bridges,
Rather than stony walls.

Amen
