In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!

The words spoken as the Baptismal water was poured over us.

From that all other sacraments flowed.

Today we honor the mystery of yje Triune God.

God is not an aloof father figure.

No, the God we worship is a dynamic COMMUNITY!

A font of love,

A primal source of energy.

Creation unfurls fom God in all its glory

And so we pray:

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in he beginning,

is now,

and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.

On June 18, I sail from San Francisco as chaplain on the Holland American ship, Masdam to Kodiak Alaska and back on July 9.

Consequently, in the interim, I will offer shorter weekly reflecions.

June 23, Corpus Christi:

O Holy Banquet, in wihch Christ is received, the soul is filled wth grace and there is given to us a pledge of future glory"

The Holy Eucharist is resurrection food!

June 30, 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Bless our land from sea to sea.

Bless the fields giving life to me.

Bless the earth beneath my feet.

Bless the food we have to eat.

And yet, Creator God,

This is not "Ordinary time."

when fertile earth lies supine.

forests are despoiled,

deserts cursed by drouth.

Ice bergs melted by global warming

bringing chaos out of paradise.

What I do for the earth,

I do for the children

let the earth be for them

no desert--but precious gem.

Amen
