So who is who in todays Gospel?

Most preachers today will "be clothed in white linen.

Any one in our country who owns a home and has a steady job qualifies as "the rich man" on today's Gospel.

And who is Lazarus?

All of the homeless, the detained migrants, many of them chidren, qualify as Lazarus in our midst.

"Are you rich or are you poor?

As if being one or the other would make any of us morally better.

It is not..."How much do you have?"

The question is this:

"How much do you care?"

And so we pray:

Help us to know who we really are.

And who we might become.

Amen
