One word might sum up today's Gospel : URGENCY!

"Caritas Christi urgent nos."
The love of Christ URGES US!

There is high drama here.
He called and "They left their nets!

This meant they immediately left their livelihoods and risked everything.

No small gamble.

"The Kingdom of God is at hand!"

NOW . . . THIS MOMENT IS CRUCIAL TO JESUS.

ECKHART TOLLE, the German mystic, stresses this truth that the only reality IS NOW.

Yesterday is past.
Tomorrow is not yet.
Now is real.

Yet, so often we dwell in the past, raking up smouldering embers of past hurts.

Or we have idle dreams of future glories.

Jesus demands of all of us a NOW response.

And so we pray:
Now is the acceptable time.
Now is our time.
This moment is a special time.
To respond.
To say YES!
Jesus, your love:
Urges me,
Impels me,
Challenges me.
"Here I am Lord.
I come to do your will."
Amen
