I flew to Omaha Monday and gave the last rites to an old friend,
Anthony Bianchi, a few hours before he died.

Anthony played football at Holy Name High School, and at Marquette and St. Benedict  Universities.
He also greatly admired Coach Vince Lombardi, the famous Green Bay football coach.

Lombardi wrote a book titled RUN FOR DAYLIGHT.

TO PARAPHRASE THAT BOOK:

I pray for Anthony:
You have now crossed the final goal line,
But keep running towards the light!

Jesus is the light.
And he waits there under the goal posts,
To give you the victory hug,
And lead you home.

Anthony was my “Anam Cara” ... “Soul Friend.”
He named his Labrador “Fitzgerald.”
And I was honored.
