RED IS THE COLOR OF HOLY WEEK...

Holy Week  begins with blood in the garden and then the cross.

When the Passion is read, bear in mind that it is the story of suffering humanity all through the ages.

Not really a story of a petty, local Roman officer issuing a death decree, nor of a small band of local Jews demanding it.

It is much more. It sums up all the cruelties of humanity, all the sufferings, all the tragic losses.

And we have all experinced loss, have we not?

In his passion, Jesus identifies with all human tragedy, and enters fully and deeply into our human situation and drama.

He carries the cross beside us carrying ours.

In this week we call HOLY, the liturgy is all really one.

Thursday Eucharist, Friday Passion, Saturday Easter Vigil: The Triduum:

Our Passover Event, a passage from death to life.

Let us go up to Jerusalem with Jesus!
