Men of Galilee, why gaze in wonder at the heavens?

My dear friend Bishop Anthony remains in Hospice. Please pray for him.

At Jesus leaving, the Apostles gaze wistfuly into the heavens.

Is the Ascension more about his leaving or his staying?

Jesus tells them: "I will not leave you orphans."

So Jesus is with us still through his sending of the Spirit.

And where the Spirit dwells, there is joy, peace, hope.

In the midst of conflict, turmoil, and the static of scial media, we must seek the Spirit.

And so we pray:

Come Holy Spirit

Renew the face of the earth.

Dwell in our hearts

as our deepest wellspring.
