WHERE DO THE WARS AND THE CONFLICTS AMONG YOU COME FROM?

2ND READING

IN TODAY'S 2ND READING ST. JAMES ASKS "WHERE DO YOUR WARS AND CONFLICTS COME FROM?"

AND HE ANSWERS "FROM YOUR UNRESTRAINED PASSIONS."

We wage little wars do we not?

And then we wonder where large wars come from.

Joe Wse has a wonderful song: Teach us To Pray:

"Lord teach us to pray.

tt's been a long and cold December kind of day

With our hearts and hands all busy in our private little wars,

we stand and watch each other now from separate shores,

we lose the way.

I need to know today how thing should be in my head.

I need to know for once now the things that should be said

I've got to learn to walk around as if I were not dead.

I've got to find a way to learn to live.

...I stand so smug and sure before the people I've outguessed.

To let a man be who he is, I still see as a test.

Ad when it all comes down to "must" I am sure my way is best.

I've got to find what "room" means in my heart.

Lord teach us to pray

We believe that we can find a better way.

Teach us to pray.

We lose the way.

Teach us to pray

[You can hear this beautuful song sung by Joe Wise:

And so we pray:

Lord teach us to pray,

we lose he way.

Families should be our safety net.

But they are torn,

in need of mending.

Friends, misunderstandings,

cast us adrift to separate shores.

Lord,

teach us to pray.

We lose the way.

Teach us to pray.

Amen
