A tower fell in Siloam-The News of The Day

A tower in Siloam was the news of Jesus day. Today, a flood in Nebraska, a fire in California, a cyclone in India.

We are never completly immune from current dsasters.

We all share the human condition.

and we all share the human fallibility.

Today Jesus gives u the image of the infertile fig tree.

for three years it has borne no fruit.

What is to be done?

"Cut it down!"

But the servant says, "Gve it another chance. I wll fertilize it and let's see what happens."

Jesus is the patient servant, not the irate owner.

He is patient with our failings, but Lent is the time to show growth and promise.

And so we pray:

May the Holy Dirt traced on us at Ash Wednesday,

nurture the seeds of forgiveness, compassion and reconciliation,

so that we may all bloom with new life at Easter.
