Scorn
From jubilation on the Sunday of Palms, to Scorn on good Friday, to Triumph on Easter morn!
It is Jesus Story And Ours!
I recently watched an Easter film on Channel 84, old movies.
It was the true life story of Rocky Graziano the prize fighter.
I recommend it for Holy Week.
Title: "Somebody Up There Likes Me!"
starring Paul Newman as "Rocky."
Its about a young New Yotk City kid from the other side of the tracks who went AWOL from the Army and served a year in the harsh Leavenworth Army prison.
There he experienced Scorn to the harshest degree/
But he had one talent:Boxing.
As he got out of prison, he developed that skill, but he wanted his imprisonment unknown to his wife.
However it was revealed in a newspaper headline and he was like the suffering Christ, not onlu battered and bleeding, but as he mistakenly thought. scorned by his family.
But not so. After much soul searching, he went on to become Middle Weight Champ.
A boxer, a Christ figure?
I think so.
As we enter this week that is Holy,
We adore Thee O Christ and we bless thee,
Because by thy Holy Cross,
Thou hast redeemed the world.
