I have just returned from a 17 day journey, ten daysat sea on Oceiania's ship: Regatta

.On this particular cruise, there was open seating which reminds me of today's Gospel. It also reminnds me of a must visit  site in San Francisco. We made two visits  to The Buena Vista Bar the "shrine" where Irish Coffee originated. When we went in the morning we were to fly out, the bar was jamed, filled with the jabbering of countless different languages. My cousin Rosemary and I were both on canes. As we worked our way through the crowd, two Twenty Something men observed us and hopped off the bar stool and offered us their seats. Chivilry and kindness is not dead. Two strangers helping out two other strangers, a simple act, but memorable--as was the Irish Coffee. Today's Gospel is all about taking seats at the Buena Vistas of Jesus times. Twenty First Sunday in Ordinary Time....August 25, 2013

One of the speakers on our ship Regatta was a Physics Prof who gave a lecture on puzzles and paradoxes. He went on to say that in his college classes, every night he went home wondering and with all kinds of questions, and yet each day his classmates had all the answers, and so he considered himself rather inferior in intelligence. And yet when the final exams came, he got better grades then those who seemed to have all the answers each day. A paradox!

Eighteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time, August 4, 2013 PLUS Aug. 11,18

Reflections for: Aug. 4, 11, 18,

On August 7, I turn 81, and I am grateful that I am still turning. On August 8 I leave for Seattle, then to Vancouver to sail on the Oceania Regatta on an Alaskan cruise with Rosemary, my  Godson George and his wife, Dennis and ....Marthaler.

Today: Have you noticed in every town you go through the number of storage facilities? When I was growing up they did not exixt because  no  one had any estra stuff to store!

Jesus talkes about the whole "storage scene" in today's Gospel.
